Welcome to first grade at Loma Elementary. We are thrilled you are part of our learning community. This will be a year of exploration, discovery, achievement, and friendships. Reading is a journey shared together with classmates and your family. It is the biggest job in first grade and takes enormous amounts of practice and time. Come to school every day ready to learn, Loma Lions! We look forward to a great year of teaching and working with you.
First Day of School

Start and End Times
Bell rings at 8:45 a.m.
Dismissal at 3:50 p.m.
Early release on every Wednesday at 1:50 p.m.
If your child does not ride the bus or go to extended care at dismissal, be sure to pick up your child at the front office. Children must be accompanied by an adult to exit the building to the parking lot. It is absolutely necessary that you park in a marked space and not in the fire lane. We thank you for helping keep our students safe.
We always need and welcome volunteers at Loma Elementary. Please fill out the district volunteer form at the front office. There are many different ways you can help throughout the year. Our school carnival is a wonderful way to begin a year of volunteer work and to meet people in our school community. Other volunteer opportunities include classroom help, Art Heritage, holiday parties, computer lab assistance, PTA, and other special committees.
If you wish for your child to celebrate his or her birthday at school, that would be great. Birthday treats are often served in the afternoon when the children are hungry. Please call ahead to make arrangements.
Breakfast is served daily from 8:25 to 8:45 a.m. Lunch is served at approximately 11:55 a.m. in first grade. When sending school lunch money, please label the envelope with student's first and last name, grade level, and lunch number. We appreciate your help in this matter. Meals can be purchased online at mealpayplus.com . Contact nutrition services at 254-5181. for specific sign-up directions. (Free and reduced applications can be acquired from our kitchen staff.)
Please fill out the appropriate forms at the front office if your child needs medicine administered at school. Medicine must be in original containers. Application of bug spray and sunscreen at home is suggested before the start of the school day. If your child is sick in the morning with a fever or vomiting, please keep them at home for rest and recovery.
